What is the Clear Direction Management Development Program?

The Clear Direction Manager Development Program is a 6-month coaching program that provides objective descriptions on the biases within a manager’s thinking, in addition to the clarity within those biases that allow us to exercise judgment (i.e., Emotional Intelligence). Knowing this information leads to more accurate self-understanding and assists in making better decisions so managers can be more effective in communicating with and leading their people to attain desirable business results.

What's included in the program?

  • Profile Report outlining personal strengths and weaknesses as a manager. Download Sample Report
  • Kick-Off Call led by a Clear Value Vision Consultant to provide an overview of the program to the participants
  • 13 eLessons e-mailed every other week over the course of 6 months that take approximately 20 minutes a week to work on. The content of the 13 eLessons are as follows.
    1. Managing People in Their Individuality
    2. Why People Don’t Do What They Say They’ll Do—The Four Thinking Conditions
    3. Observing Your People—Why People Contradict Themselves
    4. Desire and Ability To Help Others Succeed
    5. Knowing the Roles and Placing People in the Best Positions
    6. Effective Communicator’s Adaptability
    7. Clear Direction & Motivating Support
    8. Motivating Others To Succeed
    9. Directing Others
    10. Coaching Others
    11. Delegating to Others
    12. When To Direct, Coach, and Delegate
    13. Reviewing Performance
  • Three Periodic Quizzes to Confirm Mastery of the eLesson Content. (Note: The three quizzes are e-mailed after eLessons #4, #8, and #13.)
  • Monthly Team Debrief Session (via conference call) with a Clear Value Vision Consultant. This monthly call is a 60–90 minute call (length of the call depends on the size of the team) whereby each participant can share their experiences on how they applied the two eLessons they worked on the past month. This debrief session allows the participants to learn from each other, and to discuss what worked, what didn’t work, and improvement suggestions.

What are the benefits of the program?

  • Enhances self-awareness by addressing the source of the behavior (thinking) rather than the symptoms (personality), and provides personalized development content rather than a “one size fits all” approach—If we want to change behavior, we must first change our thinking.

  • Outlines the key behaviors that are critical to a manager’s success.
  • Provides ongoing reinforcement over the course of 6 months—Learning is best if it is a lifestyle, not an event!
